The idea is sound, except few people will have access to advanced automotive batteries available for home use until these batteries reach their HP Pavilion DV8000 Battery end of life cycle about 10 years from now. So what can be done from now until then for those eager to employ advanced batteries as an energy solution for their home?
Panasonic has provided the answer. Beginning in 2011, the company will offer lithium-ion batteries tailored for in-home use. Both companies are working together to bring the in-home batteries to market quickly and are expected to make a more detailed announcement regarding the specifics of the program early next year.

Current battery technology such as lithium manganese and lithium iron phosphate do not respond well to fast charging. The most promising technology for fast charging is lithium titanate which through testing shows little negative affects due to fast charging.
The study concludes that the new battery technology, plus the added recharging costs, add up to more than what a typical consumer would spend on HP Pavilion DV5 Battery recharging and refueling (with traditional fossil fuels) a plug-in hybrid. Toyota’s philosophy seems to match the study findings.
In a recent interview, unrelated to the Carnegie Mellon report, Bill Reinert, U.S. national manager for advanced technology for Toyota was Laptop Battery,Laptop Batteries quoted as saying, “We believe that if you have a smaller battery charged more frequently, you can run on electricity more of the time, then your carbon emissions are going to be lower overall.”
According to a UK based research firm called CAP, the answers to the questions above remain of particular concern, but reliable answers are still unavailable.
